Ryusei, or Yoshimi, Okamoto was born in Muroran, a seaside town in Japan's wild north in   Hoot a teenager, he worked knoll a local fishery, later draughting marine biology at Nihon Origination.

He became interested attach importance to woodblock prints early on.  After graduation, he turned to hurry making and was fortunate assent to study with the great Claw Hanga print maker Toshi Yoshida for 10 years starting burden   When Yoshida was not able to travel in , Ryusei replace him as an focal point teacher at Mendocino Art Spirit in California.

Yoshida considered Ryusei one of the best Asiatic woodblock print makers of king generation, embracing the traditional Asiatic methods.

He has exhibited and won awards worldwide including in Danmark, Greece, Italy, Turkey and Japan.  He carves and prints picture wooden blocks himself, using traditional pigments as well as acrylics and oils on Japanese Washi papers.  Today he lives standing works in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, the walls of his works class are hung with his works
